How to Disable a Policy Temporarily in ThreatLocker?

This document outlines the step-by-step process of how to disable a policy in ThreatLocker Dashboard.

This article is a part of our ThreatLocker How-to Guides series, Chapter 08 – Policy Management.

Introduction

In ThreatLocker, you may want to temporarily disable a policy without deleting it, for example, during testing, troubleshooting, or for a short-term exception.

This allows you to pause enforcement while keeping the policy available for reactivation later.

Implementation

Step 1: Access the Application Control Module

  1. Log in to the ThreatLocker Portal.
  2. Navigate to Modules > Application Control > Policies
  3. A list of all active policies can be seen

  2. Click the switch under the Active column to disable it
  3. Click Deploy to apply the change

Disabling a policy temporarily gives you flexibility to adapt your security posture without losing your existing configuration.

The policy can be easily re-enabled later by toggling it back on and redeploying it.
